New Car Models

When it comes to buying a used car, the best time of year to do so is just after people have updated to this year's models. That way you get a car that is virtually new and has had all its little teething problems ironed out in the first year. You also get it at a drastically reduced price to what the original owners would have paid given that new cars loose a great deal of their value the minute they are driven off the forecourt. With this on the market shortly, it will free up plenty of last years BMW's to the second hand car market. Used BMW's that are only one year old will flood the market and be available for anyone touched by the credit crunch or indeed, for anyone not wishing to pay the extortionate prices of a new car.If BMW is not your thing, try an Audi. New or used, Audi are renowned for their reliability, comfort, smooth ride and luxury status. The new Audi RS6 sedan looks pretty compact but hides a twin turbo, five litre V10 engine with 580 horsepower and 479lb - ft of torque. The release of this vehicle, first in the US but bound to make its way across Europe and onto our streets, will free up a plethora of used Audi onto the used car dealer forecourts so be ready to bag yourself a bargain if Audi is to your taste. As much as we would all love a brand, spanking new car, reality hits home with the majority of us. There are a select group of salary owners that can really afford their own, fully paid up new car. The rest of us will get by on company cars or used cars. But this isn't such a bad thing. We get from A to B and we do it without the expense of a car that has just lost several thousands of pounds by driving one mile down the road. Picking up a used car just after the 2009 models have been released will be a wise investment for many.

Cars body kits – dynamic styling

You would think a product that got you from one place to another quickly reliably and comfortably would look dynamic. But if you look at all the cars on the road you will find that only a few of them look truly dynamic. Some of them in fact look dull and boring and do not give the impression of speed and performance at all.True we judge whether a car looks dynamic or not with standards that keep rising higher and higher. What looked hot and racy till yesterday looks dull and static today. It seems just as cars keep getting faster so will their styling keep getting more and more dynamic in its appearance. And one of the more dynamic cars of our times is the Mitsubishi Lancer. You can start your process of choosing the body kit, with evaluating the options of the different materials of construction available in the market. The main options are glass fiber composite which is relatively lower cost and very popular, polyurethane which is resistant to minor dents and scratches and carbon fiber composite which are high tech and light in weight. Based on your needs once you have chosen the material you can then choose the body kit components you like and the style and color for them. You can even mix and match components from two different sets to make your car stand out even more.

Most Stolen Cars

This list of the most stolen cars in 2002 was compiled by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), which is a not-for-profit organization financed by auto insurers. They monitor every report of a stolen car.
Toyota Camry
Honda Accord
Honda Civic
Oldsmobile Cutlass
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Toyota Corolla
Ford Taurus
Chevrolet Caprice Classic
Ford F-150
From this list of stolen cars, the most recent models are put on the market once again after some slight modifications to conceal the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Older models are stolen so that the parts can be distributed among unscrupulous mechanics who then install them in your car, passing them off as brand-new and making a hefty profit in the process.

Some hints on new Muscle Cars

From the time that Ford showed the way with the first classic "muscle car" in 1964 in the form of the Mustang, America has been in love.
With the on demand performance that these cars offered, the Ford Mustang became the top selling car for many of the years during its "performance era." Times are very different, though, and there are many factors that would seem to hinder the muscle car's popularity. High fuel prices and strict Federal regulations would seem to cause a restriction for all that horsepower. But these horses can't be corralled and the muscle car remains a steady seller, especially to the new generation. And for them, there is a new generation of muscle cars hitting the dealer lots.
This high performance Cadillac makes this automaker a great addition to the muscle car ring. While Cadillac may not exactly historically call for performance, the CTS-V delivers with power, a roomy interior and great handling. Delivering surprising 400 horses of power with a 6.0 liter V8 and 395 pound feet of torque, this baby sits you in they type of car you would expect from Cadillac with a lower price tag and very pleasing performance.
GM brought back the "Goat", much to the delight of muscle car enthusiasts. One of the original muscle cars, the GTO was introduced in 1964 and ran through the 1974 production year. Pontiac wanted to keep the awesome power of the GTO without making you sell your house. With a 6.0 liter LS2 V8 offering 400 horses, the new breed of GTO ran from 2004 to 2006. But, this is one car that can't be held down and we can only hope that it will emerge again in the future.

Tips for Saving Money on Gasoline

Gas prices are on the rise. Here are some tips to help you conserve gas and save money as we approach summer gas prices.
Keep your car tuned up. Cars in poor running condition use more gasoline.
Plan trips well to avoid unnecessary driving.
When you run your air conditioner you get much worse gas mileage. Use your air conditioner sparingly. If you have a lower setting, use it. Turn it on until the car gets cool, then turn it off and let the fan circulate the cool air. Never run your air conditioner with your windows open!
Keep your windows closed when traveling at high speeds. Open windows cause additional drag and lower your gas mileage. At high speeds, an open window can use more gas than many air conditioners (especially if they are on a low setting).
Check your tire pressure. Over-inflated tires can actually reduce your fuel efficiency, so don't overfill.

Evolution of the Eclipse

The design of the Mitsubishi Eclipse has been a popular one with younger consumers as it was intended to compete as entry-level sports coupe. The Eclipse itself was originally offered with four different packages. The car is a study in smooth lines, upscale interior and powerful engines all the while retaining the affordability that makes it within reach of up and coming twenty something's. By remaining true to the original style lines that have made the car so popular, Mitsubishi has been able to retain its hold on this portion of the sports coupe market.Named after a racehorse from the eighteenth century that won an astounding 26 races in one year, the sports car has eclipsed most other vehicles in its class. The original two versions of the car were kept very similar to hold down design costs and indeed most parts from these first generations are interchangeable. They are easily identifiable by their pop up headlights, a design that lends sleekness to the cars lines but have a tendency to show problems with the motor responsible for opening the headlights. Although most cars today have converted over to front wheel drive, the Eclipse has not. It has instead retained a rear wheel drive system that has proven to be reliable and needs very little repair. It has been suggested that Japanese auto makers had long been seeking to create their own version of the pony car and indeed many feel that with this Mitsubishi sports coupe that goal has been reached.

Car distractions can have "fatal consequences"

Car insurance policies take into account any penalties issued to drivers and premiums rise accordingly. In fact, the company states that those with convictions for driving carelessly may have to pay 26 per cent more for their policies. The investigations revealed that the most common type of distraction for drivers was the radio, as 77 per cent would take their eyes off the road to change stations. In addition, many of these motorists also admitted to changing CDs while attempting to drive, which could drastically reduce reaction time and cause accidents to occur. Other common habits carried out by motorists include eating behind the wheel, which 26 per cent described as a distracting activity.Drivers who travel with children in their cars may like to make sure they bring toys and activities for youngsters in order to keep them occupied on journeys. Some 34 per cent of car users reported that they lost concentration while looking after the needs of young travellers while they were on the road.Despite laws introduced to cut mobile phone use nearly a third of motorists taking part in the study said they still used their devices when driving. Andy Leadbetter, managing director of the company, urged motorists to pay more attention when they were driving in order to make roads safer and reduce insurance premiums

Checklist For Purchase Of New Cars

Once you had decided on the type of the car that you need, give a deep thought to the price of the car. The car should suit your budget and income levels. If you are planning for a refinance for the car, the repayments should be affordable for you. The ideal price of a car is considered as 50% of the annual income of a person, according to experts in the auto finance industry. For example, if your annual income is $60,000, then the value of the new car purchased by you should not exceed $30,000.When the type of the car and your budget are clear, hunt carefully for all the cars of different brands that suit these criteria. If you are thinking of a Cadillac CTS, it would be prudent to take a look at similar cars like Nissan G35, Lexus IS, Acura TL and BMW3 also. Study the features of each of these models and go for a test drive of all of them before making a final decision.

Negotiate for the car finance, if you are opting for a car loan. Bargain with several lenders to get the lowest rates and better repayment options. Discuss with several authorized car dealers, who would be able to advise you properly on the model and type you should purchase and also help you with the lenders in car loan.Consider the points like the mileage of the car, the possible future maintenance costs, the insurance costs, and warranties for the car and the parts. The same oil change might cost you $25 for a Toyota, while it might be $100 for a Mercedes Bens. These factors would affect you significantly in the long run, if you do not take them into account in the beginning itself. These are only a few checklists provided for guidance in the purchase of new cars. If you apply your mind, you might be able to think of a few more relevant points that are applicable to you personally. Thinking deeply before the purchase of new cars is always beneficial in the long run.

Save Fuel and Save Money

The best time to think about fuel efficiency is before you buy a car. Generaly, smaller cars will use less gas. And since insurance and taxes are also more of a bother in large cars, it may be wise to buy a little car if you care about the money. Also, among the larger cars, some are better than others. All you have to do is relate to the miles per galon figure that comes with it. Sports cars, by the way, are the best way to make more fuel burn away, and automatic transmission is also a good way of wasting a lot of it.But those seem too obvious. The interesting thing is how to make a given car which you already have in your garage, go further on every single litre. As a rule, you can improve fuel efficiency by as much as 25% simply by changing your driving style, provided that your car has a manual gearbox. Here's what you do: Try to change the gears (up) without the engine going to high RPM - certainly not over 2.5k RPM (2500 rounds per minute). I know a lot of people extend first, second and sometimes even third gear more than that because they want to accumulate speed. This may get you to the next traffic light before the car on the other lane, but there's a price to be paid - paid with a currency called petrol.
As long as you change the gears early you're pretty much maximizing the fuel efficiency of your motorcar. One last tip: Stay away from traffic and don't crawl (using the cluctch) too much. In other words, driving in the city is wasteful where fuel is concerned.

Better Car Control With Volvo Steering Racks

Control is a vital factor in any car. It is as crucial as high performance components under the hood. Like Volvo shock absorbers, struts, and brakes, Volvo Steering Racks is a component that keeps the car under its driver’s control. The steering rack of a Volvo vehicle is securely connected to the car’s steering wheel through a set of shaft and U-joints. A turn to the right or to the left will instantly have the steering rack respond and guide the vehicle precisely by turning the wheels to the driver’s desired direction. Volvo steering racks are also linked to the front wheels. This part, however, doesn’t work alone as it depends on pinions that provide the force needed to guide the wheels to the direction of the car

Audi: What's coming in 2010 - - and beyond

A3:The A3 will offer the two-liter "clean" diesel found in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI, with 140 horsepower, 236 lb-ft of torque, and a six-speed S-tronic (twin clutch) automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Audi estimates the A3 2.0 TDI will get better than 40MPG in the EPA highway cycle.
A5 CABRIOLET:A new soft-top convertible version of the A5, called the A5 Cabriolet, picks up where the A4 Cabrio left off. Powertrain choices include a 211 horsepower 2-liter turbo four with a continuously-variable automatic and front-wheel-drive or a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive, or a 265 hp V6 with a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive.
A5 COUPE: Now available in four-cylinder form, with the same 211 horsepower 2.0T engine found in the 2009 A4. Buyers can choose manual or automatic transmissions, and Quattro all-wheel-drive is standard.

Modifying Your Car Engine

Cold Air Intake – A cold air intake can help boost the performance of your car engine by a substantial amount. OEM intakes absorb warm air from around the engine, which detracts from the performance capabilities of your car's engine. By supplying a steady stream of cold, dense air, a cold air intake can give you better combustion, which provides more power per stroke, propelling you down the street with greater gusto.Custom Ignition System – Your car engine can benefit from a custom ignition system. Performance spark plugs and spark plug wires can add horsepower to your engine. In addition, advanced timing can also give you greater oomph. Performance plugs and wires provide more spark (what ignites fuel and drives the pistons in your engine). When combined with the benefits of a cold air intake, a custom ignition system provides considerable performance enhancements.
Superchargers and Turbos – Superchargers and turbochargers can ramp up your car's engine performance to a dramatically higher degree. Each system offers different benefits, so you will need to choose the right one for your needs. For instance, a supercharger provides performance enhancements across a wide range of the power band. A turbo, on the other hand, offers greater performance at higher RPM ranges (basically, a supercharger is great for the street, while a turbocharger is ideal for the track).
High Performance Radiators – A high performance engine produces more power, and, thus, more heat. A high performance radiator will be needed to keep it cool. These radiators are designed to deal with much higher temperatures and pressure ranges than OEM radiators are. These will help keep your performance engine safe from overheating and running smoothly no matter where you run your car. .

Tips To Prevent Car Theft

Take Your Keys. Nearly 20 percent of all vehicles stolen have the keys in them.
Lock Your Car. Approximately 50 percent of all vehicles stolen were left unlocked.
Never Hide a Second Set of Keys in Your Car. Extra keys can be easily found if a thief takes time to look.
Park in Well-lighted Areas. Over half of all vehicle thefts occur at night.
Park in Attended Lots. Auto thieves do not like witnesses and prefer unattended parking lots.
If You Park in an Attended Lot, Leave Only the Ignition/Door Key. If your trunk and glovebox use the same key as the door, have one of them changed. Don't give the attendant easy access to your glovebox and trunk. Upon returning, check the tires, spare tire, and battery to be sure they are the same as those you had when you parked.
Never Leave Your Car Running, Even if You'll Only be Gone For a Minute. Vehicles are commonly stolen at convenience stores, gas stations, ATMs, etc. Many vehicles are also stolen on cold mornings when the owner leaves the vehicle running to warm up.
Completely Close Car Windows When Parking. Don't make it any easier for the thief to enter your vehicle.

Make Sure Your Car is as Safe as Possible

According to the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 82 people are either killed or injured in accidents every day after being ejected from their vehicles. There’s no breakdown of how many of those people went through windshields, but Cyr figures the number is high.
“Laws exist that require seatbelt use. Laws exist to prohibit tampering with or disabling airbags. However, there are no laws that govern how a windshield is replaced once the vehicle leaves the factory. An improperly replaced windshield could -- and sometimes does -- become detached from the vehicle during airbag deployment, from the force of a collision, or when the car rolls or flips over. With the windshield disabled, the effectiveness of the vehicle’s safety restraint system (SRS) is seriously compromised

Keep Your Old Car Running Like New

Kunkel says it’s important to realize, however, that higher mileage vehicles have different needs when compared to newer vehicles. Over time, engine parts experience wear, deposits form on metal surfaces, and seals can dry out. “Older engines have different lubricating needs and require more attention than newer ones if they’re going to continue functioning well,” says Kunkel.Citgo's Supergard Ultralife Motor Oil, introduced in October 2002, is specifically formulated to meet the needs of this growing population of older, higher mileage vehicles“The oil gives engines an extra layer of protection by providing additional cleaning agents for critical engine parts and conditioning seals, which, thereby, helps reduce oil leakage and prevent valve deposits,” says Kunkel.Rivera says keeping her car running in tip top shape is very important. “It’s our family vehicle. I have two small children and it gives me piece of mind to know I’m doing something to keep my car running longer,” says Rivera.

BMW: What's coming in 2010 - - and beyond

5-SERIES: A new hatchback version of the 5-series, called the Gran Turismo (GT for short), will be introduced towards the end of 2009, presumably as a 2010 model.
7-SERIES: The V12-powered 760i and long-wheelbase 760Li rejoin the lineup. Under the hood is an all-new 6-liter V12 engine with twin turbochargers and direct fuel injection. Output is 544 horsepower, and peak torque -- all 553 lb-ft of it -- is delivered from 1,500 all the way up to 5,000 RPM. The 760 will play host to BMW's first 8-speed automatic transmission. Expect all the comfort and convenience features in BMW's arsenal, including air suspension, four-zone climate control, night vision and adaptive cruise control that can start and stop as needed in heavy traffic.
X1: BMW's new entry-level crossover SUV, the X1, is scheduled to go on sale in late 2009, most likely as a 2010 model. The X1 will offer rear- or all-wheel-drive. Powertrains have not been announced, but I'm betting on the 3-liter inline six found in the 1- and 3-series.
X3: A larger X3 is known to be in the works, but BMW has not announced a release date; my guess is it will show up sometime during calendar year 2010. Expect the X3 to grow by nearly a foot -- BMW says it will be as large as the first-generation X5 (which itself grew 10 inches longer when it was redesigned in 2007). The new X3 will be built in BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, alongside the X5 and X6. (The current X3 is built under contract by Magna-Steyr in Austria.)
X5: The X5 SUV -- sorry, SAV -- gets a new "M" version with a 555 horsepower twin-turbo V8, stiffer suspension, and racy body trim.
X6:Like the X5, the X6 gets a new 555 hp "M" version.

Decrease In Car Accidents Is Possible By Going For Parking Sensors And Cameras

Although lots of steps have been taken in order to stop these car accidents but things are still not too good to brag about. But, it is a fact that some steps can be taken to stop the chances of having an accident. One of the good things to do in this regard is to install car parking sensors in your car.Apparently it seems that car parking sensors are only helpful when you need to park you car but it is not true as these sensors can provide help in all types of situations. Actually, it is a fact that some of the most dangerous accidents take place in the driveways and that's when parking sensors can lend a helping hand to avoid facing a lot of trouble.Along with making use of parking sensors, reversing cameras can also be used to avoid accidents. These reversing cameras are extremely beneficial in situations when parking sensors don't become able to detect an obstruction. Also, by having a view of the situations going behind your car you can reduce the chances of accidents to a considerable extent.

Integration Of Latest Car Alarm System

The first documented case of car theft was as early as 1896, only a decade after the Otto gasoline powered automobile was patented by Karl Benz of Germany. To combat this situation, car alarm systems are installed on automobile doors. So the first ever car alarm system was typically a car door alarm. But with todays cars, its much more sophisticated. Car alarm systems have sensors that go off every time a panel is opened the panels can be the doors, the hood or the trunk. These sensors are actually voltage that travels around the vehicle including doors, trunk and hood. If this circuit is broken by forced opening of a panel or a voltage dropped due to interference with the electrical system, the alarm goes off.Since 1896, car thievery was second to none most rampant thievery cases every year. Getaway vehicle, easy to break in, always in demand, and with a little bit of repainting can attract any interested buyer. But with the present state of the art technology, car alarm systems can stay up ahead with thievery.
